IMPACT INTRAPRENEURSHIP ACADEMY

Australia

To address our societal challenges, from equity and social justice to climate change, we need large, traditionally powerful organisations to transition from “business as usual” to being vehicles for positive impact. This transition is driven by intrapreneurs—courageous employees who are stepping up and out to create a change through their day jobs, and make their organization part of the solution.

IMPACT INTRAPRENEURSHIP

Impact (or social) intrapreneurs are employees within established organisations who are taking action to create innovative products, services, or practices that contribute to the core business and have a positive social or environmental impact.

Intrapreneur isn’t a job title, it’s a way of working and being. You’ll find Intrapreneurs by spotting the following characteristics...

SILO BUSTERS

Collaborating across traditional company boundaries.

OPPORTUNITY SPOTTERS

Finding innovation potential where others typically see risk or challenge.

SYSTEM THINKERS

Seeing the interconnections between business value and societal pressures

STORYTELLERS

Bringing others on board with their vision for “shared value”.

DREAMERS

Believing that business can be a force for good.

DOERS

With a track record of getting stuff done.

Studies show that intrapreneurs are more engaged because they are driven by purpose; they create a culture of “entrepreneurship” that spurs business innovation, opens new markets, and reaches new customers*.

Yet, being an intrapreneur comes with many challenges: they often feel like misfits in the corporate world - under-appreciated, needing more tools and support to navigate the complex corporate environment, as well as companionship in the journey. To survive and thrive inside the organisation they need institutional and peer support.

WHO IS THE ACADEMY FOR?

The Academy is for practicing and aspiring intrapreneurs from Australia’s large organisations (private, government and not-for-profit).

Intrapreneurs may or may not have innovation, sustainability, change, or transformation as part of their job title. They may come from different functions; may already be recognized as sustainability champions, part of talent programs, or innovation accelerators. Or, they may be fully invisible, quietly working on groundbreaking ideas, eagerly awaiting to be discovered.

KEY TAKEAWAYS FOR PARTICIPANTS

NORTH STAR

clarity around the individual‘s purpose and how they can act from within and leverage assets of their institution to address the issues they care about.

COMPASS

clear plan, tools, and resources to initiate or scale existing intrapreneurship initiatives with confidence.

CO-TRAVELLERS

peer community to support them in navigating the challenges on the way- from maintaining personal resilience to joining forces to accelerating the change.

The Academy also includes an invitation to further co-create the intrapreneurship movement in Australia through Impact Intrapreneurship Alliance and to connect with the global League of Intrapreneurs.
