  • Marjorie Brans
    Marjorie Brans

    Global Catalyst, League of Intrapreneurs
Environmental Defence Canada’s Green Champion of the Year and winner of the Spirit of Lord Michael Young Award, Marjorie Brans has obsessively wondered: “Can any type of market economy be reconciled with deep care for the planet and all of its creatures?” Seeking an elusive answer, she has hunted for clues on five continents in multinational corporations, venture capital funds, tiny social businesses, and charities. To recruit and train fellow explorers for the quest, she co-founded four nonprofits that meet at the intersection of economic, social, cultural, and environmental transformation and is now working full-time on COVID humanitarian response. Despite their tired feet, Marjorie and her co-travelers suspect the answer is “yes.”

Black Canvas: Reimagining The World

This session offers an opportunity to gain perspective on our Earthly assumptions in a place where everything is possible.
Building on the idea of outer space and its darkness as a ‘blank space of opportunity’, the session offers us an opportunity for contemplation, reflection and imagination. This space appears empty and is ready to be filled with ideas that don’t yet exist.

We can harness the creative power of the participants to re-imagine our world. We will create a spellbinding moment in space-time, blending a myriad of topics and perspectives to co-create new possibilities for our shared existence.

Today, we are being forced to transform the way we have been living and, perhaps, this is a glimpse of the major structural changes that we have to make in the near future. Reimagining systems and ways of relating to each other are of paramount importance if we are going to preserve the planet with all its human and non-human forms.
